STEERING POT DETAIL

1.  Unplug driving system from computer.  Remove pot wires.  Pull on terminals only, do not pull on wires.  Loosen (do not remove) pot coupler screw. 2. Remove steering pot bracket screws and remove pot/bracket assembly.

3.  Remove pot retaining nut and remove pot.  Install new pot, tighten nut moderately tight only.  Orient pot shaft so slot is in 12:00 position as shown.  Reinstall pot/bracket assembly into steering unit.  Tighten pot coupler screw moderately tight only.  Reconnect pot wires.  Reconnect driving system to computer.  Go to Windows joystick utility, select to display raw values and calibrate steering.  With steering centered the value should be between 510 and 530.  If not, loosen steering shaft coupler screw slightly (shown in step 1) and rotate coupler as required to get the correct value.  Moderately tighten the coupler screw.
PEDAL POT DETAIL

1.  Loosen throttle pot arm locking screws, there are 2 of them.  See image below for location of second screw.  Slide pot arm off pot shaft. 2.  Loosen PMB brake pot arm locking screws, there are 2 of them.  See next image for location of second screw.  Slide pot arm off pot shaft.

3.  Carefully remove pot wire clips from pot terminals.  Do not pull on wires, pull only on clips.  Loosen pot nuts and remove pots. 4.  Install new pots as shown.  Image is for PMB2 equipped pedal units.  See 4A for non-PMB2.  Tighten pot nuts only until firmly snug.  Do not over tighten.  Connect wires as shown.  Cartridge shown removed for clarity only.

4A.  Image showing pot positions and wiring for non-PMB2. 5.  Reinstall throttle pot arm as shown.  Insert guide pin in slot and then slide pot arm onto pot shaft.  Do not tighten screws.

6.  Reinstall PMB brake pot arm as shown.  Insert guide pin in slot and then slide pot arm onto pot shaft. Do not tighten screws. 7.  Positioning of brake pot arm is critical.  Maintain spacing as shown.

8.  Connect pedals to wheel.  Turn computer on.  Go to Windows joystick calibration screen.  Select to display raw values. Calibrate steering wheel.  Go to next screen (Z axis - throttle) Insert screwdriver into end of throttle pot shaft and rotate as required until raw value indicates 1013.  Very lightly snug one of the throttle pot arm locking screws.  If value changes after tightening  screw, go back and readjust as required. The at-rest value must be 1013.  CHECK CALIBRATION ORIENTATION: Move throttle slightly and watch raw values.  They should decrease as the pedal is actuated.  If they increase you have the throttle pot wires connected to the wrong terminals.  If this is the case swap the pot end terminal leads, exit Windows calibration, re-enter it, and reset the pot value as outlined above.  If everything is ok then move throttle to full travel.  If the full travel raw value does not drop to 10, let go of pedal and re-adjust pot at-rest value and try again.  You would need to adjust the at-rest value to start moving sooner as the pedal begins to move.  When adjusted correctly moderately tighten both pot arm screws. 9.  Proceed to clutch calibration screen (X Rotation axis).  If you do not have a clutch skip through this screen.  If you have a clutch set it up in this screen.  Clutch pot setup is the same as the throttle pot setup described in the previous step.

10.  Proceed to brake calibration screen (Y Rotation axis).  Rotate brake pot shaft until it has a raw value of 1013.   For PMB2 brake check pot arm spacing as shown in step 7.  Lightly snug one pot arm locking screw.  If the value changes after tightening the screw, loosen it slightly and reset.  CHECK CALIBRATION ORIENTATION: Move brake slightly and watch raw values.  They should decrease as the pedal is actuated.  If they increase you have the brake pot wires connected to the wrong terminals.   If this is the case swap the pot end terminal leads, exit Windows calibration, re-enter it, and reset the pot value as outlined above.  Move the brake to full travel, applying sufficient force to get it all the way.   For a PMB2 brake the value should be between 300 and 100.  For a non-PMB2 brake it should be 10.  If the values are not correct you will need to go back and re-adjust the at-rest pot shaft position to get the values to start changing sooner when the brake arm starts to move.   When the correct values are obtained moderately snug both pot arm locking screws.  Finish calibration routine.   Close Windows calibration utility.  Unplug driving controller USB connection to computer.  Wait a few seconds and reconnect it.  Go to the Windows calibration utility and do a fresh calibration.  Setup is then complete.
